Cold-Calling by Solicitors

Residents should be advised that solicitors are not allowed to cold call or door knock in an attempt to attract business.

Under guidelines set out by the Solicitor’s Regulation Authority, reiterated in a recent warning issued by the SRA, firms of solicitors are prohibited from approaching members of the public who aren’t current or former clients ’in person, by phone, online or by other means which target them individually, such as cold calling or door knocking.’

In practice and within the housing sector, these approaches often relate to disrepair claims, in which a solicitor will call or knock on your door, offering to take up a disrepair claim - for delays or failure to carry out repairs - on your behalf. This practice is strictly prohibited and if this happens to you, please report to us as soon as possible on 020 4518 1447 or brockley.customerservice@pinnaclegroup.co.uk.
